Sheriff Lynn "Currie" Myers has worked in law enforcement for over 20 years, and has been recognized nationwide for his outstanding achievements in fighting and preventing crime.

His professional career began nearly two decades ago, when Myers took his first job as a state trooper with the Kansas Highway Patrol in 1985. He advanced from the patrol in 1990 to serve as a special agent with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), often working undercover in field operations and as a task force agent for the U.S. Customs Service and Drug Enforcement Administration.

In 1996, Myers was promoted to KBI's regional office in Kansas City, where he worked in field operations, homicide investigations and public corruption cases. In 1998, he started managing the Clandestine Lab Response program to combat the manufacturing of illegal synthetic drugs.

However, Sheriff Myers' greatest public profesional accomplishment was being elected the sheriff of Johnson County, Kansas in 2003. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office is one of the largest sheriff's offices in the Midwest with over 550 sworn deputies, over 100 civilian support personnel, and an annual operating budget of nearly $60 million, serving the largest populated Kansas county at over 500,000 people.

Myers is considered an expert in investigating and responding to clandestine laboratory sites. He has been recognized nationwide for his outstanding achievements by KBI, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Marines, the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the Kansas Chief's Association, the Kansas City Police Department and CrimeStoppers, Inc.

In addition to his professional experiences, Myers also has an outstanding academic background. In 2002, he earned his doctorate in criminal justice from Southwest University and has a master's of business administration from Benedictine College, a master of science in criminal justice from Southwest University, where he graduated with honors and a bachelor's in criminal justice and management from Ottawa University.

Finally, Myers is an adjunct instructor for St. Petersburg College, through the Southeastern Police Institute and MCTFT. In this position, Sheriff Myers has travelled the country teaching and instructing the military, police and fire personnel on public safety issues.
