Al-Qaeda crippled in Iraq
Story
The deployment of more U.S. and Iraqi forces into AQI strongholds in Anbar province and the Baghdad area, as well as the recruitment of Sunni tribal fighters to combat AQI operatives in those locations, has helped to deprive the militants of a secure base of operations, U.S. military officials said. "They are less and less coordinated, more and more fragmented," Lt. Gen. Raymond T. Odierno, the second-ranking U.S. commander in Iraq, said recently. Describing frayed support structures and supply lines, Odierno estimated that the group's capabilities have been "degraded" by 60 to 70 percent since the beginning of the year.

Faith Based Private Prisons working
Story
Evidence is strong that violence and trouble-making drop sharply in these faith-based programs, and they often are the only vibrant rehabilitation option at a time when taxpayer-funded alternatives do not work. In Kansas City, there is a faith-based private jail called Integrity Correctional Centers (ICC). ICC handles over 240 inmates a day from sheriff’s offices and police departments across Missouri and Kansas due to jail overcrowding. Wyandotte County send ICC over 100 inmates a day, Johnson County does not participate. The costs? Less than $46 per day, which includes transportation services.

Nobel Peace Prize has lost all objectivity
Story
In recent years, the Nobel Committee has shown itself more and more willing to name the Peace prize for political reasons. In awarding Al Gore and the IPCC the Peace Prize, however, the Nobel Committee has lost all pretense to objectivity. Not only are Al Gore and the IPCC shamelessly partisan choices, but also irrelevant ones. Whatever one thinks of their crusade to convince the world of catastrophic, human caused global warming, it has precious little to do with furthering world peace.

Gore gets cold shoulder
Story
ONE of the world's foremost meteorologists has called the theory that helped Al Gore share the Nobel Peace Prize "ridiculous" and the product of "people who don't understand how the atmosphere works". Dr William Gray, a pioneer in the science of seasonal hurricane forecasts, told a packed lecture hall at the University of North Carolina that humans were not responsible for the warming of the earth.

Researcher - Babies in the womb can feel pain
Story
But we found disturbing research in America that directly contradicts this established view. It came from Dr Sunny Anand, who has a distinguished record in helping to prove that very young babies can feel pain. When he was based at Oxford University in the 1980s his work helped to ensure that newborn babies were routinely given pain relief for surgical procedures.

Fox Business Channel starts today
Story
Fox defines success -- aside from ratings -- as expanding the business news audience by "demystifying" the subject, according to Kevin Magee, the Fox News executive vice president in charge of the new business channel. There are plenty of people not watching business news because it's presented in an "off-putting" way, he said. Shows like Neal Cavuto and the Dave Ramsey Show will be offered on the Fox Business Channel.

Understanding Conservatism: Conservatives are not all the same
Story
A series of essays in the volume "The Future of Conservatism," edited by Charles W. Dunn, examines the strains inside the GOP in the post-Reagan era. The Republican coalition, like all successful major party coalitions, is inherently fractious and potentially unstable. Dunn, dean of the Robertson School of Government at Regent University, identifies five wings of the modern conservative movement: neoconservatives, libertarians, midwestern conservatives, traditionalists and religious conservatives. James W. Ceaser, a professor of politics at the University of Virginia, identifies four: "traditionalist or paleoconservatism, neoconservatism, libertarianism and the religious right." Each, he argues, is founded on a different first principle, and while they all object to liberalism, it is often for different reasons. When we understand our differences and the fact that not one single candidate can fit the molds of so many types of factions within the conservative movement maybe then we will understand that winning this election may not be so difficult afterall.
