Freedom isn’t Free
A few days ago the KC Star’s Front Page was dedicated to the costs of war, specifically the mounting costs of outfitting today’s modern soldier. The Star compared the costs to the World War II soldier, indicating a “staggering” increase. The anti-war piece focused on how the taxpayers are going to have to pay for war in the future.
Well, TKF went on a mission to see what the costs might be in another comparison. Let’s take a look at the law enforcement profession. TKF compared the costs of a 1941 police officer to a modern day officer. Here is what we discovered:
In 2007, $29,349.00 is generally spent by the agency on outfitting a local police officer in the United States. This does not include training, pay and benefits. In 1941, the number spent on the purchase of police equipment is estimated at $1,598.00. Here are the comparisons:

As you can see it is significantly more to outfit and equip the modern police officer as compared to the one in 1941. In fact, in many cases the officer in 1941 had to pay for their own uniforms, boots, and handgun.
Perhaps this comparison will allow the reader to see just how bad the drive-by media’s left-wing agenda has become. Perhaps, next we should compare running a newspaper in 1941 to today. However, since the profit margin for a 1941 paper was very good it would not be fair to the Star to compare the two.
I want the best outfitted US Military on the face of the earth. I want them to be able to attack, see, and think better than our adversaries and I’m willing to pay for it. It’s called freedom and freedom isn’t free.
