A million march to US Capitol to protest against 'Obama the socialist'
As many as one million people flooded into Washington for a massive rally organized by conservatives claiming that President Obama is driving America towards socialism. The size of the crowd - by far the biggest protest since the president took office in January - shocked the White House. Demonstrators massed outside Capitol Hill after marching down Pennsylvania Avenue waving placards and chanting 'Enough, enough'.
National Park Service: 9/12 Event Largest Ever in DC
The truth will out. Despite mainstream media attempts to characterize turnout as in the thousands, a spokesman for the National Park Service, Dan Bana, is quoted as saying "It is a record.... We believe it is the largest event held in Washington, D.C., ever." Democrats and their media acolytes may wish this weren't so, and they may even employ the Ostrich Strategy, burying their collective heads in the sand, pretending that a major important political movement isn't happening. But they only hasten their own demise in doing so.
Magnitude of Rally Takes Authorities by Surprise
The demonstrators in Washington came from all corners of the country, waving American flags and handwritten signs explaining the root of their frustrations. Their anger stretched well beyond the health care legislation, with shouts of support for gun rights, lower taxes and a smaller government.
Obama Grants More Rights to Gitmo Detainees
The Obama administration plans to issue new guidelines meant to provide prisoners at a U.S. detention center in Afghanistan greater latitude in challenging their detention, The New York Times reported in its Sunday edition. Citing Pentagon officials and advocates for detainees at the U.S.-run prison at Bagram Air Base, the newspaper said each of the approximately 600 detainees would be assigned a U.S. military official who would have the authority to look for evidence, including witnesses and classified material, for any detainee challenging his detention.
Obama sets stage for using budget maneuver to pass health reform
That will set up a Democratic argument that Senate leaders have been forced to use a partisan budget tool known as reconciliation to pass a health bill through the Senate by a simple majority, instead of 60 votes. Under the budget plan they passed earlier this year, Democrats could invoke the reconciliation process on Oct. 15.
Republicans to Obama: Here Are Our Health Plans
Republicans have drawn up 35 different health care proposals this year, undermining President Obama's statements in recent weeks that opponents of his health care plan have no solutions.
Doctors Rally Against Healthcare Bill, AMA,br>
More than 1,000 physicians from all 50 states converged on Washington, D.C., on Thursday in demonstration against controversial healthcare legislation and the American Medical Association, a leading advocate of H.R. 3200, also known as America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009. Wearing surgical scrubs, chanting and brandishing signs, the doctors picketed on the front steps of the AMA's building and delivered a very powerful message.
Election trouble brewing for House Dems in 2010
Despite sweeping Democratic successes in the past two national elections, continuing job losses and President Barack Obama's slipping support could lead to double-digit losses for the party in next year's congressional races and may even threaten their House control. Fifty-four new Democrats were swept into the House in 2006 and 2008, helping the party claim a decisive majority as voters soured on a Republican president and embraced Obama's message of hope and change. Many of the new Democrats are in districts carried by Republican John McCain in last year's presidential contest; others are in traditional swing districts that have proved tough for either party to hold.
After Census Severs Ties, ACORN May Face Scrutiny of Housing Grants
Conservatives have cheered the Census Bureau's decision to sever ties with ACORN because it had lost confidence in the group, but the hidden-camera videos that prompted ACORN to fire four workers this week could raise more questions about the federal funding ACORN receives for housing outreach. ACORN Housing Corporation received $1.6 million to provide housing services to low-income communities in this fiscal year, ending Sept. 30, according to USASpending.gov, a federal government Web site for tracking government grants. The Department of Housing and Urban Development Grants has given $8.2 million to ACORN in the years between 2003 and 2006, as well as $1.6million to ACORN affiliates.
Obama school 'safety' chief: How to promote homosexuality
President Obama's choice to monitor school safety once boasted that he introduced homosexual advocacy into the school system in Massachusetts by manipulating the message presented to lawmakers. Jennings is the founder and former executive director of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network, which "works to make schools safe for all students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity," according to the government announcement of his appointment.
Congressman’s Fundraising Shoots Through the Roof after Obama Outburst
Rep. Joe Wilson's campaign says his fundraising has broken $1 million -- and surpassed that of his Democratic rival, Rob Miller -- since his outburst of "You lie!" during President Obama's address to Congress Wednesday. The source said Wilson's current tally is $1,005,021 from 18,859 donations amid a high-profile campaign on the Drudge Report and elsewhere telling conservatives that Wilson is "under attack" for his willingness to take on Obama.
Actor tells Catholic youth at English festival about call to holiness
Catholic actor Eduardo Verastegui was one of several speakers at an annual festival held at Walsingham, England during the country’s August bank holiday weekend. About 1,500 young people took part in the five day session of camping, music and Catholic renewal. Verastegui told the youthful audience that they were called to holiness in their everyday lives, according to a press release from Youth 2000. He also spoke to the young pilgrims about chastity. He explained that after his conversion he refused film scripts that did not promote Christian values. “I was without work for four years,” he said.

Kansas GOP Congressmen Well Received at State Fair
Brownback, Tiahrt and Moran also were unanimous in their opposition to the proposed cap-and-trade system proposed as a way to limit carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas linked to global climate change. The proposal would require industries to buy credits if they want to exceed limits on emissions. Tiahrt said he believes solar activity, not human activity, is the primary driver of global climate change. Calls to reduce carbon dioxide emissions are "based on political science, not hard science," he said. "We don't need the government to tell us what to set our thermostats at," he said. People in the crowd agreed. "I think we're well represented in Washington," said Duane Hund, 53, of Paxico. "All these guys have the right priorities for Kansans."
Enforcement of laws governing open meetings for local government
Kansas House Speaker Mike O’Neal (R-Hutchinson) and House Judiciary Chairman Lance Kinzer (R-Olathe) said that under a correct interpretation of the Kansas Open Meetings Act, local governments should not be allowed to use personnel exemptions to have intentional, detailed budget discussions during closed meetings that involve the majority of elected officials.

Wichita City Council Members Plan Junket to Europe
At a time the City of Wichita is under severe budget pressure, shouldn’t unnecessary travel be the first place the city looks to save money? At the August 18 meeting of the Wichita City Council, an agenda item was approved without discussion or presentation of any details other than what appear here: “Approval of travel expenses for Council Member Janet Miller and Kelly Harper, Wichita Area Sister Cities President, to attend the International Cities Conference in Paris, France and the Sister Cities Loire Festival in Orleans, France, September 21-27.”
Child Rapist Escapes from Prison
The search continued today for an Olathe man who escaped Saturday from the Hutchinson Correctional Facility. Thirty-nine-year-old Steve Genton was sentenced in December in Labette County for two counts of rape of a child under the age of 14, one count of rape and two counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor. His earliest possible parole date had been in July 2020. Authorities are trying to determine how he escaped from the medium-security area of the prison.
“Green” Energy Costs inflate Roeland Park City Hall Expansion by 50%!
The City Council voted 5-2 Monday night to make the building more aesthetically pleasing and improve the programming. The city has not outlined specific plans or hired an architect. Money for the improvements would come from $2.9 million in existing tax increment financing funds from the TIF district surrounding and including City Hall. The council requested the addendum after reviewing costs presented in a City Hall feasibility study from the architects. The study indicated that renovating the City Hall and bringing it up to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification standards could cost more than $6 million.
“Jesus did not come to teach a philosophy, but to show the way, indeed, the path that leads to life.” – Pope Benedict XVI
Gospel - Jn 3:13-17
13 And no man hath ascended into heaven, but he that descended from heaven, the Son of man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him, may not perish; but may have life everlasting. 16 For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world, to judge the world, but that the world may be saved by him.
Slaying of Pro-Life Advocate & Obama stands silent for days
The administration of President Barack Obama was quick to respond to the shooting death of late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller. But, when it comes to the murder of a pro-life advocate urging students at a Michigan high school, the Obama administration hasn't said a word. Well almost three days later that is!
The Obama administration has been silent on the Friday shooting death of pro-life advocate Jim Pouillon by an abortion advocate who was upset that he protested abortion outside a local high school. But, when it came to the Tiller murder, Obama released a statement and the Justice Department announced an investigation.
"The Department of Justice will work tirelessly to determine the full involvement of any and all actors in this horrible crime, and to ensure that anyone who played a role in the offense is prosecuted to the full extent of federal law," said Loretta King, head of the department's civil rights division. Obama also directed the U.S. Marshals Service to offer protection to abortion practitioners.
Leading pro-life advocates are concerned about the lack of response.
Representatives of Operation Rescue, Concerned Women for America, the National Clergy Council, and the Christian Defense Coalition participated in an afternoon press conference and called on Attorney General Eric Holder and President Obama to condemn the killing as they did when Tiller was shot.
Troy Newman of Operation Rescue said the pro-life movement has been vigorously attacked since Obama was elected and since Tiller was shot.
“There has been an uptick in the amount of death threats we have received," he said. "There seems to be a stonewalling on the investigation."
Judy Zabik, who is the spokesman for Flint Area Right to Life is calling on tougher protections for pregnancy centers and pro-life advocates.
"I would publicly insist that all crisis pregnancy centers be afforded the same protection that Eric Holder gave to all the abortion clinics around the country after Tiller was murdered," she said.
Former Republican presidential candidate and American Values leader Gary Bauer said he has seen a different approach from the mainstream media in its reporting on the Pouillon shooting.
"Regrettably, there have been incidents of violence at abortion centers in recent years. We, and virtually every pro-life group, have condemned those acts," he told LifeNews.com. "At the same time, Big Media never missed an opportunity to use each example to condemn the entire pro-life movement as if it consisted entirely of hate-filled people."
"Today, a 63 year old pro-life activist was shot and killed outside of a Michigan high school. Will reporters and journalists offer commentary on the extremism of the pro-abortion movement and the culture of death that it perpetuates? Will this story even make the evening news?"
