Four-star general, Ronald Keys, is responsible for every fighter jet and bomber in the Air Force's arsenal. Keys calls himself "just a farm boy from Kansas," spending his childhood in Council Grove. General Keys is the commander of the Air Combat Command at Langley Air Force base.

Governor Sebelius announced today that she appointed James Charles "Chuck" Droege to fill the seat of Judge Steve Leben, who Sebelius appointed to the Court of Appeals in April. Droege has donated $13,700 to the Kansas Democratic State Committee, and a number of Democratic candidates, including Govenor Sebelius and Attorney General Paul Morrison. The number and amounts of these donations show that Droege may be a Democratic Party partisan.

Police Officers injured in shootout
Story
Another officer rushed the most seriously wounded officer to a hospital in a pick-up truck. That wounded officer was hit three times. Later this afternoon, police officials reported that he was in critical condition at an area hospital. The second officer was wounded in the arm and was reported to be in stable condition.

Controversial Judge Steps Aside on Case

Shawnee County District Judge Matthew Dowd, who sentenced Orlando Cisneros to probation for raping a 14-year-old girl, has voluntarily removed himself from the case, now that he has blackened the Kansas criminal justice system and betrayed the trust of parents statewide in their government’s protection of their children from rape.

Mortar shell found in patrol car gas tank
Story
Police are investigating a fireworks mortar shell that had been shoved into the gas tank of a police car. The bomb squad extracted the shell, took it to the explosive ordnance range and determined it was not a dud. The mortar shell “would have completely destroyed the car” if it had detonated because the gas tank was full.
