The Truth behind the Fairness Doctrine
Story
While Democrats in Congress claim they are only seeking balance, accuracy and truth with renewed calls for the reintroduction of the Fairness Doctrine, history shows government enforcement of the broadcast rule was selective, heavy-handed and used purposely to squelch political opposition. In recent weeks, particularly during that immigration debate, Sens. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.; Trent Lott, R-Miss.; John Kerry, D.-Mass.; Dick Durbin, D-Ill.; and Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, have all called for the Fairness Doctrine to be considered or reinstated once again.

New York Firefighters come out swinging against Giuliani

“This image of Rudy Giuliani as 'America's Mayor' is a myth,” says President of the Uniformed Firefighters, Steve Cassidy. The video raises many questions about the former mayor, including why firefighters used obsolete radios on September 11th that may have added to the death toll, why the search for human remains was suddenly stopped after a lost shipment of bank gold was recovered and why the emergency management bunker was on the edge of ground zero.
Illegal Immigration and the Church: Philanthropic Lawlessness
Story
It seems inadvisable to the church, as a societal institution, to disobey the law to protect illegal immigrants from deportation. Christ expected his followers to treat criminals in prison the way they would treat him, but he said nothing about busting them out of prison. The church has a tremendous interest, morally and practically, in preserving the rule of law. From a moral perspective, Scripture teaches that we are to submit to the governing authorities appointed by God. Churches especially ought to honor conscientious immigrants who follow the laws of the land and not undermine their difficult and virtuous choices by systematically condoning illegal behavior. And practically, American churches ought to venerate and cherish the law because it is the guarantor of their religious freedom.
