http://www.operationrescue.org/?p=658
During the interview, McHugh challenged Tiller’s diagnoses of mental health problems and stated that he saw nothing in the records that would justify a late-term abortion under Kansas law, which prohibits abortions after 21 weeks unless the mother’s live is in danger or there is a “substantial and irreversible” risk to a “major bodily function.” McHugh was the case psychiatrist that was hired by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office in 2006 to render his medical opinion of the legitimacy of Tiller’s late term abortion justifications.

The Democratic House voted on a bill to authorize human cloning. Under the bill, scientists would be able to create cloned human embryos and then to destroy those embryos in the process of producing stem cells. But Nancy Pelosi and her colleagues know perfectly well that cloning is unpopular, so they pretended that the bill bans human cloning. Kansas GOP Congressmen Todd Tiahart and Jerry Moran voted against the bill.

Lawrence needs to concentrate on core services
http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2007/jun/09/basic_needs/
For six or seven years, it seems like every special interest group (feel good groups, neighborhood associations or social service groups) coming before the city has been given money, while basic infrastructure, emergency services and repairs have been underfunded. So much so that some of these entities feel “entitled” to the funding. This was money the city did not take in, but borrowed from reserve funds. Now, it has little left to give out.

http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2007/jun/13/prison_could_get_gitmo_detainees/
U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, recently introduced a bill that would close the Guantanamo prison and send the detainees (terrorists) to Fort Leavenworth, about 35 miles northeast of Lawrence. (Yes, Sen. Harkin lets bring the terrorists to Kansas instead of keeping them in Guantanamo. Another brilliant liberal politician, Incredible!)

Various liberal groups will call today for newly appointed KCMO parks board commissioner Frances Semler to resign because of her illegal immigration views. “I’m for the rule of law, and I think that’s the bedrock of this country,” Semler indicated, “I can’t believe my supporting the “Minutemen Project” is an issue.”

The Addiction behind Gambling
http://www.kansas.com/news/local/story/91849.html
A 2004 study by GVC Marquette for the Wichita Downtown Development Corp. concluded that a Wichita casino could produce 5,200 to 7,800 pathological gamblers within 50 miles of the city. Like Jack, a pathological better, he began betting on sports events, first with a bookie, then on his own. He started losing, bet more to make it up, kept losing, increased his bets from $500 or $1,000 to $5,500 or $7,500, and eventually fell into a $40,000 hole.
