U.S. gives drop-dead treatment to tortured beauty
She was terrified, clinging to God, when a brutal street gang spied her escaping down the streets of Nicaragua. "Let's kill her!" one shouted. Two strange men suddenly clenched her arms and ripped her blouse as she struggled to free herself. They warned her not to scream while they prepared to rape her. She spotted woods nearby – and had a vision of her lifeless body being dumped just yards away after enduring torment of a brutal sexual attack. Auxiliadora Martinez, 23, a Nicaraguan political refugee, was beaten with sticks, shot at, nearly raped and almost murdered – all because she fought for free elections.
Now, the U.S. is prepared to deny her asylum in the land of the free. Martinez, a campaign organizer for Eduardo Montealegre, former Constitutionalist Party candidate for Managua mayor, has been tortured by Nicaragua's Sandinista regime and is pleading with the United States for asylum, but American immigration officials have shown her little sympathy.

Why Government-Run Health Care Will Harm Both Patients and Doctors
The establishment of a "single payer" health care system would inevitably result in lower payments for physician and other health care providers. The immediate effect of having a single ("stingy") payer would be lower incomes for physicians and a reduction in the supply of active physicians, thereby impairing access to health care for all patients. However, the result of "single/stingy payer" health care will not only be lower incomes for physicians now but reduced access and lower quality health care for future generations as well.

TKF Special Report
Are we a Christian nation?
The U.S. is not a theocracy. However, it was founded by Christian men of great faith. Furthermore, the "ideals" that bind us together and the laws under which we live are not based on thin air. They are based on Judeo-Christian principles. James Madison, the primary author of our Constitution, said this: "We have staked the future of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."
Passion of the Lord also explains the defense of life in all of its stages
In order to prepare for Holy Week and the celebration of Granada’s Passion play, known as the "Passio Granatensis," Archbishop Javier Martinez published a letter encouraging Easter to be celebrated as a time for recognizing the value of human life in all of its dimensions. "Since that first Passion," writes the archbishop, "there is no human loneliness, there is no human sadness, there is no human poverty in which God is not present." Thanks to the redeeming work of Jesus, "the true greatness and transcendence of God is revealed," he added.

Moore gets Pork Money for Bike Trails, New Buses and Redo of Historical Area
City leaders told Congressman Dennis Moore on Monday that more than $5.6 million worth of stimulus projects should be underway in the city by the end of the year. “We think the money we have received will have been well spent,” City Manager David Corliss told Moore as part of a visit the Congressman made to Lawrence. “It is really being used to take care of existing infrastructure.” A rebuilding of the Clinton Parkway bike paths west of Wakarusa Drive. The city received $800,000 through a special bike and pedestrian trail program that was funded by the stimulus bill. Work — which will involve rebuilding the paths using concrete — will begin by December. Work to rebuild New York Street as a brick street from Ninth to 12th streets. The project received $950,000 as part of a special grant program, funded by the stimulus, to make transportation-related improvements to historical structures or roadways. Corliss also said he expects a recommendation to be delivered to city commissioners later this month on how the city should spend $1.9 million it has received in stimulus money for new buses as a group of city and Kansas University staff members are examining the feasibility of purchasing buses that run on renewable fuels instead of the standard diesel buses.
Moore said he believed the city projects were the type of work Congress had in mind when it approved the stimulus funding. He also said he was pleased with the early results of the stimulus package, although he is concerned about the mounting national debt. Now that’s money well spent folks!

From Proverbs 16:3
“Entrust your works to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.”

Gospel according to John 13:1-15
1: Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
2: And during supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him,
3: Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going to God,
4: rose from supper, laid aside his garments, and girded himself with a towel.
5: Then he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded.
6: He came to Simon Peter; and Peter said to him, "Lord, do you wash my feet?"
7: Jesus answered him, "What I am doing you do not know now, but afterward you will understand."
8: Peter said to him, "You shall never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, "If I do not wash you, you have no part in me." 9: Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!"
10: Jesus said to him, "He who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but he is clean all over; and you are clean, but not every one of you."
11: For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, "You are not all clean."
12: When he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and resumed his place, he said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you?
13: You call me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am.
14: If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.
15: For I have given you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.
