Bonus Flap has Bankers Upset with Liberal Congress
Bankers on Wall Street and in Europe have struck back against moves by US lawmakers to slap punitive taxes on bonuses paid to high earners at bailed-out institutions.
Senior executives on both sides of the Atlantic on Friday warned of an exodus of talent from some of the biggest names in US finance, saying the “anti-American” measures smacked of “a McCarthy witch-hunt” that would send the country “back to the stone age”.
Can Congress Punish People? Why the Constitution Prohibits Bills of Attainder
The Constitution prohibits both the federal government (in this clause) and the states (in Article I, Section 10, Clause 1) from passing either bills of attainder or ex post facto laws. The Framers considered freedom from bills of attainder and ex post facto laws so important that these are the only two individual liberties that the original Constitution protects from both federal and state intrusion. As James Madison said in The Federalist No. 44, "Bills of attainder, ex post facto laws, and laws impairing the obligation of contracts, are contrary to the first principles of the social compact, and to every principle of sound legislation."

Shocker: 'Global warming' simply no longer happening
This may come as bad news for Al Gore. The modest global warming trend has stopped – maybe even reversed itself. And it's not just the record low temperatures experienced in much of the world this winter. For at least the last five years, global temperatures have been falling, according to tracking performed by Roy Spencer, the climatologist formerly of NASA. "Global warming" was going to bring more and more horrific hurricanes, climate change scientists and the politicians who subscribed to their theories said. But since 2005, only one major hurricane has struck North America.
Obama first closes Gitmo now criticizes release decisions,/a>
President Barack Obama says the U.S. hasn't done a good job sorting out who should be released from the Guantanamo Bay detention center. Obama says in a broadcast interview that some of the people released from the facility in Cuba have rejoined terrorist groups. He also says U.S. officials have not always been effective in determining which prisoners will be a danger once they are let go.
Obama Apologizes for Remark

Senate Confirms Pro-Abortion Obama Nominee Elena Kagan for Solicitor General
The nomination didn't create much of a buzz or opposition, but the Senate voted on Friday to approve Kagan to serve as Solicitor General. However, the selection of Kagan could have a tremendous impact as she will become the attorney who represents the government before the Supreme Court. Because the Solicitor General defends the laws of the United States, Kagan would be in a position to defend laws that either support or oppose abortion.
Pro-Abortion Obama to Speak at Notre Dame Commencement Ceremony
Leading pro-life Catholics are calling on Notre Dame University to rescind its invitation to pro-abortion President Barack Obama, who is slated to give the college's commencement address to graduation seniors on May 17. In her Buna home, Newman says the deputy found a small amount of methamphetamine and as many as 16 snakes, one dead.

Carrying a fake New York birth certificate and a phony Florida driver’s license, an investigator walked into a Maryland post office in December to apply for a U.S. passport, filling out documents with the Social Security number of a man who died in 1965. In four days, the investigator received his passport.
Commies are new condom source for US
At a time when the federal government is spending billions of stimulus dollars to stem the tide of U.S. layoffs, should that same government put even more Americans out of work by buying cheaper foreign products? In this case, Chinese condoms. That's the dilemma for the folks at the U.S. Agency for International Development, which has distributed an estimated 10 billion U.S.-made AIDS-preventing condoms in poor countries around the world. But not anymore. In a move expected to cost 300 American jobs, the government is switching to cheaper off-shore condoms, including some made in China.
Congress ‘Hypocrisy’ on Trips Angers Hotel Executives

AFP Outraged by Rep. Waters’ Misuse of Taxpayer Dollars
Today, NYTimes.com reported that Representative Maxine Waters, a California Democrat, used her political influence to pressure U. S. Treasury officials to grant $50 million in bank bailout funds to OneUnited—a bank for which her husband served on the Board of Directors and owned at least $250,000 worth of stock in the institution. As a result, OneUnited received a cash infusion of $12 million last December through the Treasury's bank bailout effort, the Troubled Asset Relief Program. In regards to Rep. Waters’ personal connection to the funding, Tim Phillips, president of Americans for Prosperity released the following statement: “Rep. Maxine Waters allegedly steering funds to her husband's bank is an example of the kind of abuse you get with massive government bailouts of industries. When trillions of dollars are being spent with little accountability, it's far too easy for millions to be abused for political purposes. We need a return to real fiscal discipline and an end to the wasteful and abusive spending of our children's future.”

Specter tries to manipulate future Pennsylvania Senate Elections, Namely His!
In recent days, Specter has quietly lobbied Republicans who control the state Senate to support a proposal that would allow independents to vote in the Republican or Democratic primary. He has called individual senators and spoke before the entire caucus - on that and other subjects - earlier this week. One senator who attended the caucus said it was tough sell. “It was apparent that he wanted the support” of the caucus, said Sen. John H. Eichelberger, R-Blair, who supports Toomey. “I could tell from the looks in the room and the comments that were made that there wasn’t much support for it.” Specter is in danger of losing the primary election without liberals crossing over to vote in the primary.
California looking to ban big screen TVs
In their continuing quest to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, state regulators have uncovered a new villain in the war on global warming : your big screen TV
Couch potatoes, beware. The California Energy Commission is considering a proposal that would ban California retailers from selling all but the most energy-efficient televisions. Critics say the news standards could take 25 percent of televisions off the market — most of them 40 inches or larger. “The larger the television, the more at risk it is of being banned unnecessarily in California,” said Douglas Johnson, senior director of technology police for the Consumer Electronics Association Association officials say the standards are not only unnecessary – because the federal government already regulates energy efficiency through the voluntary Energy Star program — but also ill-timed. The last thing our economy needs now is products taken off the market, they say.

Classic Obama/Biden Comments: These guys are running our country?

Whatever the President was thinking, 60 days into their new administration it's time for a post-election Obama-Biden Top 10. If it were Bush, Reagan or Ford these gaffes would have been on every media outlet in America!

Fairway Mayor Uses Taxpayer Money to Campaign!
When is a mayor speaking as his city’s representative, and when as a candidate?
That was the question at the Fairway City Council’s March meeting, when residents and council members questioned Mayor John St. Clair’s recent use of his “Mayor’s Letter,” which is mailed to residents and posted on the city’s Web site. Other council members came to St. Clair’s defense at the meeting. St. Clair, who finished a close second to Jerry Wiley in the March 3 mayoral primary and will face Riley and Penny Gilbert in the general election April 7, wrote four Mayor’s Letters in February. In the previous 12 months, he wrote an average of one per month. In some months he wrote two, in some one and in some none. That sudden change in frequency just before an election got the attention of council members Jim Poplinger and Teresa Sullivan. “Four letters in the last month is sufficient to raise questions in people’s minds,” Poplinger said.
Tiller Doctor Lied About Status
A doctor who gave second-medical opinions for a Wichita abortion clinic testified today that she did not work full-time for George Tiller. Kristen Neuhaus, who ran a practice in the Lawrence area, said she only came to Wichita to do consultations at Tiller's clinic once a week for half a day. When prosecutor Barry Disney asked why she told another assistant with the Kansas Attorney General's office in 2006 that she worked full-time for Tiller, Neuhaus said she misspoke.
Missouri Highway Patrol Intel Center Targeting Political Groups
A Missouri pro-life group says pro-abortion Gov. Jay Nixon is abusing state law enforcement and other taxpayer-funded resources to target pro-life Missourians. Missourians United for Life says Nixon thinks pro-life advocates are political enemies and is violating their civil rights. The complaint was filed in response to a controversial Nixon Administration report issued by the governor’s Missouri Information Analysis Center. The report, MUL tells LifeNews.com, targets pro-lifers as potential threats to public safety and specifically warns law enforcement that displaying “anti-abortion” material may be a sign of a potential threat. When asked by a reporter about the controversial report, Nixon defended it stating that getting such information was something “we're going to continue to do.” MUL is working with a group not normally on the pro-life side, the Americans Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and has asking the organization to apply instantly for a temporary restraining order against Jay Nixon in U.S. District Court. “What Governor Nixon is telling Missourians is if you disagree with him on the issue of life or display a pro-life bumper sticker or wear a pro-life pin, you may subjected to action by state law enforcement or your personal information might be sent to a law enforcement analysis center," MUL president Ed Martin told LifeNews.com Monday. This is a clear violation of Missourians civil rights. “No Missourian should have to worry that they may be pulled over by the Missouri State Highway Patrol if they place a pro-life sticker on their bumper or attend a pro-life event," he said.
Jobless rate in KC area hits 8.2%
The Kansas City area’s jobless count soared by 17,600 from December to January, shoving the unemployment rate to 8.2 percent. By the time things turn around, the recession will ultimately consume an estimated 56,400 payroll jobs in the area. Those were the dismal numbers and outlook delivered in separate reports Thursday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Frank Lenk, chief economist of the Mid-America Regional Council.
Kansas lawmakers agree on bill allowing coal plants
Legislative negotiators agree on a bill allowing two coal-fired power plants in southwest Kansas. The measure would overturn a decision by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius' administration blocking the plants. Sunflower Electric Power Corp. wants to build them outside Holcomb, in Finney County. The bill also restricts the Kansas secretary of health and environment's power to regulate greenhouse gases. Secretary Rod Bremby denied an air-quality permit for Sunflower, citing the plants' potential carbon dioxide emissions.
Kansas Rally for Sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment
The resolution seeks to refocus the federal government’s attention on the the rights of the citizens and states that were understood at the formation of this nation, and re-emphasized in the Bill of Rights in the10th Amendment , for more than two hundred years. The resolution makes it clear that Kansas and its citizens will not look kindly upon any further unconstitutional abuses of power by the federal government.
Huelskamp picks up another endorsement
"Rarely does Kansans for Life PAC make endorsements this early," said Chris Martinez, KFL PAC chairman, in a statement, "but Tim's stellar credentials, solid background and consistent voting record deserve our immediate support. We are proud of this endorsement, and enthusiastically support Tim Huelskamp in his efforts to bring his conservative Kansas values to the U.S. Congress."

Feds and jails work together to identify inmates who are here illegally
On any given day, up to 50 people in jail for Johnson County crimes are illegal immigrants, and federal immigration agents are waiting for them. Federal officials went to the Johnson County jail today to explain how they work with jails and prisons to find and deport undocumented immigrants. After such people serve their time, they are turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which starts deportation actions. They take about 30 people a month from Johnson County into custody, officials said. Those defendants eventually will go to the new immigration court that recently opened in Kansas City. Johnson County has been involved in the ICE program for years. Federal agents go there and interview Johnson County prisoners almost daily and file papers to eventually take custody of those they believe are in the county illegally. Johnson County Sheriff Frank Denning noted that not that many of the county’s criminals are illegal immigrants. At one point last month, he said, 49 of about 700 Johnson County prisoners were alleged illegal immigrants.
Self named Coach of the Year!
The hardware is starting to add up for Kansas coach Bill Self. Just one day after Self led the Jayhawks to the Sweet 16 with a 60-43 win over Dayton, the United States Basketball Writers Association named Self its 2009 recipient of the Henry Iba Award, given annually to the nation’s top coach.

From Proverbs 15:33
“The fear of the LORD is training for wisdom, and humility goes before honors.”

Gospel According to John 4:43-54
43 After the two days he departed to Galilee.
44 For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
45 So when he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, having seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the feast, for they too had gone to the feast.
46 So he came again to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And at Caper'na-um there was an official whose son was ill.
47 When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.
48 Jesus therefore said to him, "Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe."
49 The official said to him, "Sir, come down before my child dies."
50 Jesus said to him, "Go; your son will live." The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went his way.
51 As he was going down, his servants met him and told him that his son was living.
52 So he asked them the hour when he began to mend, and they said to him, "Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him."
53 The father knew that was the hour when Jesus had said to him, "Your son will live"; and he himself believed, and all his household.
54 This was now the second sign that Jesus did when he had come from Judea to Galilee.

Time for Change in Fairway
The city of Fairway has a long and storied tradition of excellence and being a great place to live and raise children in the Kansas City area. Once known for their concern for the bottom line as well as providing excellent police services, the city in the last few years as turned into a town of chaos and small town politics.
Now in Fairway, concerned residents have raised alarms on a myriad of topics with Fairway government officials, from eminent domain, to abuse of power, to the use of tax monies for non-core government services, to excess government regulations and spending. The Mayor has done everything in his power to silence his critics.
Now, the Mayor has used thousands of dollars of taxpayer’s monies to essentially campaign for re-election by using Fairway City Newsletters. This is an election he could very well lose and should. Mayor St Clair is plain and simple a liberal that believes in government intervention, high taxes and government spending. He is not a man of the people. Its time for his defeat before his policies do even more harm in the wonderful city known as Fairway!
