Kansas House gives first-round approval to abortion bill
Story
Sponsoring Rep. Lance Kinzer said the legislation didn't outlaw any legal procedure, including late-term abortions that involve a fetus determined to be 22 weeks or older. The bill requires abortion providers to give a woman having a late-term abortion, copies of documents stating the reason for the procedure and whether it's needed to prevent substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function, as the law requires.

The Kansas Department of Labor is working closely with a Hispanic advocacy group to file wage claims against employers who refuse to pay workers, regardless of their immigration status.
Mo. Lawmakers Propose Sales Tax Break

Missouri lawmakers are proposing a one-time sales tax break to help stimulate the economy. Legislation endorsed Thursday by a House committee would exempt all items priced at $600 or less from state and local sales taxes on the weekend of June 27 through June 29.
