Its Called Breaking the Law

Johnson County commissioners raised questions Thursday about the appointment of a special prosecutor who will investigate allegations against former Kansas Attorney General, Paul Morrison. Meanwhile, the Star’s Mike Hendricks wrote a commentary calling the investigation into Morrison’s criminal allegations as not looking “kosher.” So the diatribe starts from the left and the Star is leading the way.

The fact of the matter is that there are criminal allegations against the former attorney general. I repeat, criminal allegations. This case is not about the sexual impropriety of Morrison, but instead is about the possible criminal misconduct of a sitting attorney general of a state that has been accused of interfering in a criminal investigation and witness tampering. Others allegations may come forth in the future. This is no small matter and must be investigated by the authorities.

Some of the Johnson County Commissioners may not like the attention it’s bringing to our county, but District Attorney, Phill Kline, has the responsibility and the jurisdiction to investigate the matter. In fact, if I were still the sheriff of Johnson County, the allegations would be investigated with my assistance. A crime allegation is an offense that must be investigated. Our country has succeeded in history because we are a “rule of the law” society and people. That’s the reason our Founding Fathers placed ‘checks and balances’ in politics and in government.

Whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, it is owed to the people that we do everything we can to eliminate corruption from the powerful in government. Once again, Phill Kline is just doing his job under his statutory authority. Instead, it’s some of the commissioners, the former attorney general and the liberal newspapers like the Star and the Sun that are trying to usurp authority.
