Obama can’t handle pressure of job, feels overwhelmed!
Less that three months into his new job, sources close to the White House say President Obama and his staff have been "overwhelmed" by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest. British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.

Conservatives Hammer Geithner Over Obama's Tax Hikes, Cap-and-Trade
Three conservative congressmern -- Reps. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) pounded on Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner Thursday over the Obama administration’s plans to impose new tax increases and a national cap-and-trade program as the economy emerges from the current recession.

White House nightlife under investigation
An organization that serves as a watchdog on the U.S. government for American taxpayers has launched a campaign to uncover exactly how much tax money is being spent on parties at the Obama White House. "Barack and Michelle Obama have been throwing taxpayer funded parties nearly every night with their 'friends' and supporters, with Michelle Obama even exhorting them not to 'break' White House property," Klayman's announcement said. "This party atmosphere sends the wrong message to the American people. As the Obama-Clinton crowd party on, the American people are suffering greatly," Klayman said. "It was right to criticize corporate execs for using taxpayer bailout money on bonuses and corporate junkets. In the face of this criticism, it is an outrage for Barack and Michelle Obama to party on, as Rome burns.”

US Cybersecurity Chief Resigns
The government's coordinator for cybersecurity programs has quit, criticizing what he described as the National Security Agency's grip on cybersecurity. Rod Beckstrom, a former Silicon Valley entrepreneur, said in his resignation letter that the NSA's central role in cybersecurity is "a bad strategy" because it is important to have a civilian agency taking a key role in the issue. The NSA is part of the Department of Defense. The power battles Mr. Beckstrom describes in his resignation letter illustrate the challenges ahead for the Obama administration as it plans its defense against governments and terrorists who might try to disrupt U.S. computer systems, cybersecurity specialists said. One issue is what part or parts of the government should lead the effort.

Obama Executive Orders Funnel Taxpayer Dollars into Union Bosses' Pockets
Foundation VP Stefan Gleason appeared on CNN Wednesday with Lou Dobbs as part of a piece on the Obama Administration's new Project Labor Agreement Executive Order, which discriminates against the vast majority of construction workers who have not chosen to unionize. The executive order is likely to result in hundreds of millions of dollars in new forced union dues, while jacking up the costs shouldered by taxpayers.

Alan Keyes launches 'Liberty' blog
Alan Keyes, a 2008 presidential candidate who now is a plaintiff in one of the many lawsuits seeking to verify whether Barack Obama qualifies under the U.S. Constitution's requirements to occupy the Oval Office, has launched a new blog website where, according to the site, "faith gives reason for citizen action." "Given Obama's push to overturn constitutional government and make the U.S. a Soviet-style state," Keyes told WND, "I think it's more important than ever that those of us who believe in liberty deliberate and work together."

State bans prayer at Christian institutions
The Illinois High School Association is being challenged on a policy that bans Christian schools from offering a prayer or any religious message over their public address systems when they host association events on their own property. "It is blatantly unconstitutional for public school officials to come into private schools and enforce a policy prohibiting them from expressing what's central to their religious beliefs," said David Cortman, senior legal counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund.

Speaker Pelosi Backs Senate Amendment to Regulate Talk Radio
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told CNSNews.com on Thursday that she supports an amendment to a Senate bill that would force the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to “take actions to encourage and promote diversity in communication media ownership and to ensure that broadcast station licenses are used in the public interest.” The amendment’s language is viewed by many media experts as a means to regulate conservative talk radio, particularly popular programs such as the Rush Limbaugh Show and the Sean Hannity Show, among many others.

Pope Benedict’s Economic Realism: Profit does not mean Greed
In his first detailed public statement about the global financial crisis, Pope Benedict XVI may be revealing the outline of his forthcoming and highly anticipated social encyclical. He gave a lengthy response to a question from a priest who complained about the poverty and uncertainty affecting his suburban parish and who concluded that "we must have the courage to denounce an economic and financial system unjust to its roots." The priest gave the Pope an opportunity to denounce free-market economics in his own words.
Benedict didn't bite. Echoing one of his few writings on the Church and the economy as Joseph Ratzinger, he warned against cheap, easy moralism without economic understanding. In many ways his answer was a more theological version of Pope John Paul II's observation in the 1991 social encyclical Centesimus Annus that what really ails the free society is not the economic system as such, but the cultural-ethical framework that absolutizes economics. By implicitly admitting he has no technical economic competence, Benedict also reveals his remarkable intellectual honesty and integrity.
Rather than denounce an economic system that encourages people to follow their self-interest, the Pope denounces realities with more of a past and deeper effects - original sin, human greed and idolatry. He does not equate profit with greed, probably realizing that waging spiritual warfare against profits would mean losing the interest, attention and perhaps possible salvation of all who know anything about business and economics. And maybe most importantly, rather than tell us that we need a "new" system of producing and consuming, buying and selling, the Holy Father takes a more sober, realistic approach by reminding us that there is no just system without just people, and that sin is a permanent fact of life that we must learn to combat slowly, persistently and above all spiritually.

Socialism is “Great Opportunity”
President Barack Obama on Saturday challenged his country to see its hard times as a chance to "discover great opportunity in the midst of great crisis." "That is what we can do and must do today. And I am absolutely confident that is what we will do," Obama said in his weekly radio and video address, taped a day earlier at the White House. The work week ended on more down news, with the report of 651,000 more American jobs slashed and an unemployment rate climbing to 8.1 percent. That is the highest rate of people out of work in more than 25 years, as the recession continued to put enormous pressures on families and industries.

The Nobel-prize winner declined to take any questions from reporters, but he did receive a couple of challenges from attendees, including Bjorn Lomborg. But don’t expect Mr. Gore to debate the merits of how best to tackle climate change anytime soon.

Hillary gives gift from Obama to Russians but is has wrong message!
After promising to “push the reset button” on relations with Moscow, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton planned to present Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with a light-hearted gift at their talks here Friday night to symbolize the Obama administration’s desire for a new beginning in the relationship. ??It didn’t quite work out as she planned. She handed him a palm-sized box wrapped with a bow. Lavrov opened it and pulled out the gift—a red plastic button on a black base with a Russian word “peregruzka” printed on top. ??“We worked hard to get the right Russian word. Do you think we got it?” Clinton said as reporters, allowed in to observe the first few minutes of the meeting, watched. ??“You got it wrong,” Lavrov said, to Clinton’s clear surprise. Instead of "reset," he said the word on the box meant “overcharge.”

FOCA will Close Catholic Hospitals
A proposed bill promising major changes in the U.S. abortion landscape has Roman Catholic bishops threatening to close Catholic hospitals if the Democratic Congress and White House make it law. The Freedom of Choice Act failed to get out of subcommittee in 2004, but its sponsor is poised to re-file it now that former Senate co-sponsor Barack Obama occupies the Oval Office.

Anniversary of Dred Scott Reminds Pro-Life Advocate Abortion Targets Blacks
This week was the anniversary of the infamous Dred Scott decision and one leading African-American pro-life advocate tells LifeNews.com that she is reminded of how some black Americans aren't considered persons today. Day Gardner, president of the National Black Pro-Life Union, notes the irony of the connection between race and abortion. "One hundred and fifty seven years ago today, Dred Scott, a black slave, petitioned the Supreme Court for his freedom, but was denied," Gardner recounts. "In the case known as the Dred Scott decision, the Supreme Court ruled that slaves--even freed slaves, and all their descendants, had no rights protected by the Constitution and that states had no right to abolish slavery." "The reasoning in Dred Scott and Roe v. Wade is nearly identical," she explains.

Bishop Martino: College ‘diversity’ should not trump authentic Catholic teaching
Bishop Martino wrote that the advancement of “tolerance, understanding and harmony between people of different races and cultures” are “worthy goals” which Misericordia University has a responsibility to advance “as a Catholic institution.” “However, precisely because it is a Catholic institution, it also has a responsibility to transmit Catholic teaching to its students in ways that are not ambiguous or confusing,” he wrote.
The bishop repeated his statement that viewpoints “in direct opposition to Catholic teaching” should not be presented under “the guise of ‘diversity’.” “Doing so within a formal structure sanctioned by the institution gives the impression that these viewpoints are acceptable, or that all morality is relative,” he emphasized. “As Catholics, we must distinguish between authentic tolerance and an ‘anything goes’ mindset,” he continued, saying that an invitation to deniers of the Holocaust, defenders of slavery, and exploiters of women would not be justified. Though these views are “diverse,” that does not qualify them to be given a platform or to be allowed to speak without any Catholic rebuttal, he noted. Bishop Martino said that Catholics believe there is an “objective, moral Truth given to us by Jesus Christ.”

Stephen Baldwin: Hollywood a Factor in Youth Suicide, Teen Pregnancy
The violence, vulgarity, and anti-family fare produced in excess in Hollywood contributes to social decay and the higher rates of youth suicide and teen pregnancy, actor and media personality Stephen Baldwin told CNSNews.com. He added that pro-family films sell well and more conservatives should move into the industry to control the content and produce the types of films that many American families desire.

This created a firestorm of debate over how a homeless person could wind up with a cellphone.

Minnesota starts state shari’a loan program
With a rapid influx of Muslims to the Twin Cities area, some private banks began offering shari’a mortgages a while back. Muslims have a strict proscription against paying or accepting interest on loans, which makes home mortgages impossible, but private lenders have created ways to satisfy both profit and religious motives. Now the state of Minnesota has jumped into the shari’a loan market with its own offering.

Sebelius and Kansas DNC Chair in Ethics Probe over Medicaid Funds
Kansas lawmakers are calling for hearings on how a politically connected Johnson County nonprofit group persuaded Gov. Kathleen Sebelius’ administration to increase its funding. Lenexa-based Community Living Opportunities was awarded nearly $713,000 in extra Medicaid funds last fall. The group serves developmentally disabled Kansans, primarily in Johnson and Douglas counties. At the time, CLO’s board of directors included Kansas Democratic Party Chairman Larry Gates, a Sebelius confidante, and his former law partner Dan Biles, whom Sebelius recently tapped for the state Supreme Court. Lew Perkins, the University of Kansas athletic director, also serves on the board.

Allegations of Favoritism Cloud Sebelius Nomination
As she awaits confirmation as U.S. secretary or health and human services, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is facing allegations of favoritism by her administration in distributing Medicaid dollars. Republican legislators in Kansas said Wednesday they will have hearings into a decision by one of the Democratic governor's top appointees to increase Medicaid payments by $713,000 a year to a suburban Kansas City group providing services to the developmentally disabled. One of the group's board members is Larry Gates, the Kansas Democratic Party's chairman. Another board member is Lew Perkins, University of Kansas athletic director, whose chief of staff was formerly Sebelius' chief spokeswoman.

Kansas Legislators Question Obama’s Funding for Embryonic Stem Cell Research
President Barack Obama’s decision to lift a restriction on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research drew condemnation from pro-life groups and legislators, as well as a leading stem cell researcher Friday evening. According to various media reports, Obama intends to sign an executive order Monday to undo a Bush administration policy that has been in place since 2001. Critics say the decision, which will allow researchers to reap stem cells from human embryos at taxpayer expense, is not only troubling from a moral and ethical standpoint, it also promotes bad science.

Huelskamp calls for Senate rejection of Sebelius confirmation
State Sen. Tim Huelskamp, a candidate for Jerry Moran's First Congressional District seat, announced Thursday his opposition to the confirmation of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as Secretary of Health and Human Services in Pres. Barack Obama's cabinet. At the same time, Rep. Todd Tiahrt expressed reservations about Sebelius' suitability, but did not call for a Senate rejection of her confirmation. Although neither called directly on either Brownback, who is running for Kansas governor in 2010, or Sen. Pat Roberts to vote against the Sebelius nomination, Huelskamp said the Senate should deny her confirmation.

Abortion legislation passes House

“America is a Nation of cowards.”
- US Attorney General Eric Holder

From Proverbs 15:30
“A cheerful glance brings joy to the heart; good news invigorates the bones.”

Gospel According to Mark 9:2-10

2:And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves; and he was transfigured before them,
3 and his garments became glistening, intensely white, as no fuller on earth could bleach them.
4 And there appeared to them Eli'jah with Moses; and they were talking to Jesus.
5 And Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is well that we are here; let us make three booths, one for you and one for Moses and one for Eli'jah."
6 For he did not know what to say, for they were exceedingly afraid.
7 And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, "This is my beloved Son; listen to him."
8 And suddenly looking around they no longer saw any one with them but Jesus only.
9 And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of man should have risen from the dead.
10 So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what the rising from the dead meant.

Don’t Call On Us Brits in the Future, Mr. Obama

Why couldn't President Obama have put on more of a show for his British guests? He looked like he simply couldn't be bothered. Number 10 may be content that they just about got away with the visit to the Oval Office yesterday, as Andrew Porter reports from Washington.

But on this side of the Atlantic the whole business looked pretty demeaning. The morning papers and TV last night featured plenty of comment focused on the White House's very odd and, frankly, exceptionally rude treatment of a British PM. Squeezing in a meeting, denying him a full press conference with flags etc. The British press corps, left outside for an hour in the cold, can take it and their privations are of limited concern to the public.

But Obama's merely warmish words (one of our closest allies, said with little sincerity or passion) left a bitter taste with this Atlanticist. Especially after his team had made Number 10 beg for a mini press conference and then not even offered the PM lunch. We get the point, sunshine: we're just one of many allies and you want fancy new friends.

Well, the next time you need something doing, something which impinges on your national security, then try calling the French, or the Japanese, or best of all the Germans. The French will be able to offer you first rate support from their catering corps but beyond that you'll be on your own.

When it comes to men, munitions and commitment you'll soon find out why it pays to at least treat the Brits with some manners.
