He is credited with laying the groundwork for the modern American conservatism of 1964 presidential candidate Barry Goldwater and President Ronald Reagan, who was a personal friend. His first book, "God and Man at Yale," published in 1951, took the university to task for straying from its original mission. Buckley founded National Review in 1955, declaring he sought to "stand athwart history, yelling 'Stop' at a time when no one is inclined to do so, or to have much patience with those who urge it."

Tax Hikes, Economic Clouds, and Silver Linings: A Review of Deficits and the Economy
Story
Advocates of higher taxes traditionally justify their policies by the spending that they support, either directly by linking taxes to spending or indirectly by linking taxes to deficit reduction. In either case, when pressed they would begrudgingly acknowledge the harmful economic effects of higher taxes but argue that these effects are an acceptable price to pay for the benefits associated with the spending. n short, the evidence supports the view that tax increases harm economic performance. As a first priority, federal, state, and local policymakers should eschew tax increases. As the tax burden in the United States continues to rise, policymakers at all levels of government should pursue tax relief to preserve and enhance a strong economy.

Obama’s Known Associates
Story
What you need to measure about Barack Hussein Obama, a likely potent adversary for the presidency, is that while he is a politically junior and consciously liberal-voting member of the U.S. Senate, he is actually a veteran Chicago politician with a fertile record of surprising associations in controversial events well apart from his work in legislatures. Some few of these associations from his years in Chicago law work and urban development, and from his career in the Springfield, Illinois senate, speak to the quality of his judgment and to the strength of his character. Four associations in particular go the heart of the inquiry ahead in order to ask and answer the fundamental questions about who is Obama.
Oprah wants to re-define the teachings for Christ
Story
“Oprah & Friends” wants a new spiritual mindset—a New Age worldview that includes the belief that there is no sin, no evil, no devil, and that God is “in” everyone and everything. A Course in Miracles teaches its students to rethink everything they believe about God and life. The Course Workbook bluntly states: “This is a course in mind training and is dedicated to “thought reversal.” Oprah wants to teach her viewers: “There is no sin. A slain Christ has no meaning. The journey to the cross should be the last useless journey. Do not make the pathetic error of clinging to the old rugged cross. The Name of Jesus Christ as such is but a symbol. It is a symbol that is safely used as a replacement for the many names of all the gods to which you pray. God is in everything I see. The recognition of God is the recognition of yourself. The oneness of the Creator and the creation is your wholeness, your sanity and your limitless power. The Atonement is the final lesson he [man] need learn, for it teaches him that, never having sinned, he has no need of salvation.
George Soros – The Billionaire Liberal and his Unethical Past
Story
What does a very aged multi-billionaire do after he spends $25 million dollars to force a presidential election his way, and still falls flat on his face? Well, of course, he tries and tries again. America has not yet felt the full force of George Soros’ style economic shock treatment. But others have. Soros made his first billion in 1992 by shorting the British pound with leveraged billions in financial bets, and became known as the man who broke the Bank of England. When the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 threatened to spread globally, George Soros was right in the thick of it. Soros was accused by the Malaysian Prime Minister of causing the collapse with his monetary machinations, and he was branded in Thailand as an "economic war criminal" who "sucks the blood from the people." Then, George Soros did some more shady economic fooling around in France. And he actually got caught and charged with illegal insider trading in his attempt to takeover the Societe Generale bank.

Jack Cashill: Can a Catholic Vote for Obama?
Story
From the perspective of the Catholic Church, abortion is like no other social issue. The Catholic Church allows for the possibility of a just war and even capital punishment under certain circumstances, but there is no such thing as a "just" abortion. Anyone who has doubts about the Church's official position need only read the Pope John Paul II's 1999 revisiting of Pope Paul VI's historic encyclical, "Humanae Vitae." The pope does not mince words. Depriving an innocent human being of life, and life undeniably begins at conception, is "always morally evil." He adds, "This tradition is unchanged and unchangeable."

Gov. Mark Sanford (R) of South Carolina repeated his goals for the state during his Jan. 16 speech before the Republican-controlled Legislature: restructuring the government, and increasing tax cuts. Sanford also asked the Legislature to repeal tax breaks aimed at specific businesses, calling them unfair to small businesses. Sanford backed incentives for high school students to graduate early: $2,000 to each student who finishes high school a year early and $1,000 for a semester early. Free Trade Agreement Should be Passed

International trade has been one of the biggest drivers of economic growth in recent years, and passing more agreements would accelerate that growth. Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) also come without the baggage of an increased federal deficit or the inflationary pressure of government spending. What they bring instead are productivity gains, lower prices, and more jobs. Congress should pass the pending FTAs to stimulate the economy.
