Obama bill: $845 billion for global poverty
Story
Sen. Barack Obama, perhaps giving America a preview of priorities he would pursue if elected president, is rejoicing over the Senate committee passage of a plan that could end up costing taxpayers billions of dollars in an attempt to reduce poverty in other nations. In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that (U.N.) declaration commits nations to banning 'small arms and light weapons' and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention of Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Convention of the Rights of the Child.

Must See: Gingrich Talks 'Real Change'
Story
At the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C., former US Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich detailed that conflict and presented, for example, his perspective on the "bigoted anti-religious judiciary" and the proper response that should come from average Americans. He also commented on entitlements, immigration policy, and multiculturalism, and offered advice for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who is expected to win the Republican nomination for president. Gingrich explains that the divide in America is not between red and blue states but between red, white, and blue America and far left elitists hostile to American values and American culture.

LA Times Reveals Horrific New Details about Raided Abortion Clinics
Story
An article published in the LA Times gives new details about five abortion mills in southern California, owned by Bertha Bugarin, that were raided last summer by a special unit of the Los Angeles Police Department, the Health Authority Law Enforcement Task Force (HALT). Bugarin has had a heck of a time keeping abortionists over the years and has always hired the very bottom of the barrel. It looks like when she couldn't get one of her quack abortionists in the office, she did the job herself. Bertha is a predator who has a mercenary attitude about abortions. Laws mean nothing to her, as is the case with so many abortionists. She has been quoted as preferring to target Hispanic communities with her mills.

Mayor Compares Threat of Global Warming to Terrorism
Story
While he acknowledged that scientists are unable to predict its consequences, Mayor Bloomberg yesterday compared the scourge of global warming to the threat of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Although it is a "long-term" fight, he said, reducing gas emissions may save the life of "everybody" on the planet, the same way that fighting terrorism and its proliferation saves lives in shorter terms.

Congress Should Ignore Budget Requests Relating to the Law of the Sea Treaty
Story
The U.S. Senate has not ratified, and therefore the United States is not a party to, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, commonly known as the "Law of the Sea Treaty," or LOST. The Bush Administration's fiscal year 2009 budget proposal, however, requests nearly $5 million to fund the LOST organization as well as the international tribunal established by the treaty. The Administration's request is both fiscally irresponsible and opposed to U.S. national interest. If it is not withdrawn, Congress should reject the Administration's proposal and any other request to provide funding for international organizations of which the United States is not a member.

He called upon the state to protect the natural rights of families in order to support the rights of children to be raised and educated by a mother and a father.

State and Local Governments Face Unfunded Health Care Liabilities
Story
State and local taxpayers are in trouble. Over the years, state and local governments have promised, but not paid for, roughly $1.5 trillion dollars in retiree health care and other non-pension post-employment benefits--and the bill is coming due as millions of baby boomers begin to retire. Until recently, few officials even knew the size of their obligations but a new accounting rule will, for the first time, hold state and local governments to a similar standard that applies to private sector employers, forcing them to calculate their unfunded liabilities and publicly disclose them on their financial statements.

The eternal search for a new Reagan
Story
Conservatives are on the eternal search for a new Reagan. They refuse to accept the fact that a movement leader who is also a gifted politician is an once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon. But there's an even more profound reason why no Reagan showed up this election cycle and why the apostate sheriff is going to win the nomination. The reason is George W. Bush. He redefined conservatism with a “compassionate” variant that is a distinct departure from classic Reaganism. Who in the end prepared the ground for the McCain ascendancy? Not Feingold. Not Kennedy. Not even Giuliani. It was George W. Bush. Bush begat McCain.
